1. He was born exactly 2 weeks before his due date.
2. He was born with AV Canal (aka AVSD), which was repaired in September.
3. He has the most adorable dimple in his right cheek.
4. He gives us lots of huge, gummy smiles each day.
5. He was born with the longest nails I’ve ever seen. He looked like he had a French manicure!
6. He loves to sleep all swaddled up…still!
7. He has slept through the night since he was about 2 weeks old.
8. He often spends long stretches of time staring intently at whoever is near him, studying their every move.
9. He enjoys sucking on his fingers more than on his binky.
10. He has his nasal cannula in his mouth as much as in his nose during the course of a day, which sometimes results in a strange quacking noise.
11. He loves to grab anything he can.
12. He is named after Daniel in the Old Testament, which means “God is my judge.” His middle name, Keith, is after my maternal grandfather.
13. He has two sisters and two brothers. They all absolutely adore him.
14. He is the 13th grandchild on mom’s side of the family, and the 11th on dad’s side of the family.
15. He clasps his hands together and then has a hard time letting them go.
16. He loves to say “ooooh” and show off his lip-rounding skills.
17. He was born with a full head of dark hair. I don’t think he has really lost any of it and it is turning to a beautiful shade of auburn now.
18. He can roll his tongue (in our family we call it “taco tongue”).
19. He rarely cried from the time he was born until he had his heart repaired. He cries more now, but still not nearly as much as any of our other kids.
20. His favorite toy is a rattle with a handle that looks like strands of DNA twisting around each other.
21. He is an incredible blessing to his family and makes us proud every single day.
**Post-op update – all meds are done (!), he can have tummy time again (which he hates!), and he’s gaining some weight. He still needs oxygen at least until he sees the cardiologist again in November.**
Yay for a repaired heart! I don't know about you, but that was the best feeling to be on the other side of that surgery. Max's 'heart day' anniversary is in September too (but 2 yrs ago) :)
